Bilateral Tensions in Post-Cold War ASEAN

"The 1997 financial crisis in Southeast Asia has arguably dealt a devastating blow to the thirty-three-year Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The monograph under review has clearly set up research hypotheses and disproved them convincingly through the five sets of bilateral tensions in Southeast Asia" (International Relations of the Asia-Pacific).

This study examines the bilateral tensions among traditionally friendly ASEAN states, after the dissipation of bipolarity in international relations. It includes an appraisal of issues that have the potential to disrupt intra-ASEAN relations and their current status.
