Timothy Jessup is a human ecologist and conservationist with particular interests in forest history, integrated conservation and development, landscape ecology, and bio-regional planning. He has worked for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Indonesia since 1990, first as a field project leader in East Kalimantan and later as the co-ordinator of a conservation science and policy programme at the national level. Prior to joining the WWF, he was a field investigator with a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Man and Biosphere project on people-forest interactions in East Kalimantan (where he survived the great fires of 1982­83). He currently directs one of the WWF's three bio-regional programmes in Indonesia.
