Hiromitsu Shimada is Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore, and Research Fellow at the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE), Tokyo, since 1994. He was formerly an economist at the Economic Planning Agency of the Japanese Government. His research interest includes industrial development in the ASEAN regional economy.
