Sjahrir is Chief Economist for the Jakarta-based Center for the Policy Studies (CPS - IndoConsult and RedeCon) and Managing Editor of the Indonesian Economy. He also writes for the bulletin Business News. He received his Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Harvard University (1983). His main interest is in public policy, and particularly, in macro economic policy and its implementation problems.
