Reviews

"The content that stands out the most is the chapter written by Trinh, in which matters regarding the economic cooperation that the CLMV, the least developed among the developing countries of ASEAN, expect from the ASEAN+3 cooperation mechanism, are presented. No matter how much it is emphasized that free trade and an FTA will aid economic development, less developed countries are not as interested in them as they are in economic aid. As such, Korea should also expand its foreign aid (ODA) to make it suit the size of the economy (chapter 4 by Park). The book provides information that is useful to the understanding of the regional security cooperation and Korea's policies in relation to developing countries, which are currently being discussed in East Asia" (Pacific Affairs).

"The book analyses ASEAN-Korea relations from the viewpoint of security, trade, and the building-up of the community. About the publication

This book examines the growing interdependence between ASEAN and Korea and the political and economic realities governing the relationship. Leading experts from ASEAN and Korea discuss the emerging issues in areas of domestic and regional security environments, non-traditional security, regional trade arrangements, Korean relations with the new ASEAN member states, and the prospects of community-building with special reference to the roles of Korea and ASEAN. It also provides a serious and thought-provoking evaluation of future ASEAN-Korea relations in light of the growing trend towards East Asian regionalism.
